September 5-6, 2024On Sunday, a high-level delegation from CANTOOP IP Service (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., including President Daniel Yuan, Customer Director Bo Yu, and Director of Intellectual Property Department Jiaojiao Liu, went to Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, to attend the 31st Annual Meeting of the Japan Trademark Association. The purpose of this annual meeting is to deeply discuss the latest developments and development trends in the field of trademarks, and to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in international trademark protection and management.
On the evening of September 5th, the organizer held a grand welcome dinner for the participants, providing a platform for the participants to communicate and interact, which helped to enhance mutual understanding and friendship.

The agenda for the September 6 meeting was compact and informative. The morning session focused on the current situation and reform of trademark examination. Katsuhiro Negishi, Head of the Trademark Division of the Examination Division of the Japan Patent Office, gave a detailed introduction to the "Current Status of Trademark Examination", covering trends in trademark applications and examinations, the implementation of amendments to the Trademark Law, products related to virtual space, and the current status and future plans of trademark examination policies. Subsequently, Kenichi Otake, the intellectual property agent of Yaskawa Electric Co., Ltd., shared the story of Yaskawa Electric's trademark and his experience in dealing with imitation trademarks.

The afternoon session focused on the discussion of trademark similarity from a linguistic perspective. A number of experts and scholars in the intellectual property industry conducted in-depth discussions on trademark similarity judgment, trademark multivariate analysis theory, and trademark linguistics.
