From September 24 to 27,2024, —— the 38th Annual Meeting of the European Trademark Owners Association (MARQUES) in the field of global intellectual property was successfully held in Stockholm, Sweden. This annual conference brings together more than thousand government officials, scholars, lawyers, representatives of intellectual property service agencies from all over the world, who participated in the event to seek innovation and win-win future. The European Trademark Owners Association (MARQUES) is a non-profit organization serving brand owners in Europe and elsewhere, founded in 1986 and headquartered in the United Kingdom. The association unites brand owners in all industries in Europe and around the world to address issues related to the use and protection of intellectual property rights. Its membership spans over 80 countries, including brand owners and intellectual property professionals. The association has always been at the forefront of intellectual property legislation, practice and policy making, providing business support and guidance for its members to achieve a win-win situation.

The theme of this conference is "THE MANY TRAITS OF THE TRADEMARK EXPERT" (a multi-faceted feature of trademark experts), and many topics explore the roles and challenges of trademark experts from multiple dimensions, including emerging technologies and business models, advertising and sustainability regulations. Specific topics include: litigation and public opinion, working outside the comfort zone, understanding local traditions, insight into consumer values, successful online enforcement, how to present market reality in front of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), visual disclaimer in design, and the latest EU trademark and design case law. In addition, seminars on artificial intelligence, trade secrets, joint branding, copyright in intellectual property enforcement, and an amicus curiae opinion (Amicus Curiae Briefs) were held.
